About the school

Baker High School was founded in the 1900s and resides in Baker [1] which is a town in North East Baton Rouge Parish. BHS provides an assortment of regular and honors level courses, and College Dual Enrollment opportunities with BRCC.

The most noteworthy of the many student organizations on campus are National Honor Society, the National Beta Club, Baker "Symphony of Soul" Band, and Interact Club.

All high school students are required to wear uniforms which includes a red polo style shirt with khakis.[2] There is a ninth grade academy that is required to wear a white uniform shirt.

Athletics

Baker competes in the LHSAA 3A athletic class and all home sporting events are held on campus (field and gym sports).

Band

Baker High School's "Symphony of Soul" competes and performs year round in Marching and concert band performances. Under Direction of Kedric Taylor, a graduate of Southern University A&M College. The "Symphony of Soul" has become one of the premier bands in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In 2011 the "Symphony of Soul" performed a clean sweep by winning every Battle of The Bands they performed in.
